“You are SO much more than just a vet.
What are your hobbies? How long has it been since you had a hobby? Is it time to get one?
What do you do to have FUN outside work? What are your SELF-CARE routines?
Having JOY outside of work is ESSENTIAL.
Vet is just ONE part of who you are. Yet so often we feel that it defines us, that it is our identity. But it does not and is not. Sure, it’s a huge part of who we are – we spend so much of our time at work and we’ve studied for so long to get there… but the other parts of what make us unique are just as important to our happiness and building a sustainable career. Remember, you are a *insert* Partner/ Friend/ Daughter/ Son/ Mother/ Father… Business owner/ Triathlete/ Cook/ Lover of Border Collies etc
And EACH of these parts of you are just as important in making up the WHOLE you!
Make sure you find that hobby again and love taking that selfish YOU time to indulge in it! Mine is currently learning about and looking after my succulent plants (our cat eats any other indoor plants, so I can only have succulents…) And they bring me so much joy 😊
My self-care routine is talking our dogs for a beach walk (by myself) 3 times a week in the early morning. It’s quiet and it’s just me and the dogs. It brings me (and them!) so much joy 😊”
